This album was made to help you escape the steam pot city and take you to the cool quiet of the open sea. Tennis is made up by the seafaring husband-and-wife team of Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley. It is clear that they find their inspiration from their love of lonesome sailing trips from, not only the subject matter of their music, but also from the simple beats and beachy use of the telecaster. This album is definitely good when you want to go to an untroubled place not invaded by the influence of the city. Mark Richardson of Pitchfork got it right when he said that ‘Tennis strive to evoke an unnamed but certainly more innocent past.’ So, go forth and find your happy place, whether it be real or imaginary, with these easygoing tunes.
