Coming up on top this week is Conveyor’s indie pop self-titled album. CoS called it “confident, intricate, and honest” which is clear from its Byzantine experimental nature. This is an album for anyone who is a fan of Animal Collective’s sound. Their ability to fill the ambient space with the huge assortment of different sounds from birdsong to video game effects, while also feeling restrained and delicate is a skill that very few can master, and this album is able to satisfy a refreshing Animal Collective alternative. The lyrics are, at times, purposefully silly such as in songs like “Short Hair” but the music somehow holds this poker-faced sincerity that holds the album together. Hopefully there will be further development in their experimental, musical voyage. This album is perfect to help you fulfill a leisure-filled summer.
